Romeo and Juliet Remembered
Adapted from the tragedy by William Shakespeare

CONCEPT

In this reimagining of Romeo and Juliet, the iconic story of love and tragedy is recounted by Romeo and Juliet themselves, now modern narrators, reflecting on their past through the lens of Shakespearean verse. The lovers' tale unfolds as a memory—an intricate web of emotions, choices, and moments that live on in the space between them. The use of modern language as narration creates an intimate, almost confessional atmosphere, while the Shakespearean verse brings their story back to life, resonating with timeless poetry. This production asks: How do we remember the most defining moments of our lives? And how does time transform the way we see those moments?

SET DESIGN

The set for our Romeo and Juliet was designed to mirror the chaos and creativity of a busy backstage theatre. The action unfolded amidst the hum of rehearsal space—props, scaffolding, and lighting rigs that were once behind-the-scenes now became the backdrop for a love story on display for all to see. This bustling, ever-moving space reflected the tension between the personal and the public, as well as the pressures that shaped Romeo and Juliet’s choices. The set became a metaphor for the fragile, fleeting nature of both theatrical production and youthful passion, where moments of beauty and heartbreak coexist in a world in constant motion.
